Dice Legacy

Although there are thousands of video games today, there are fewer different video game genres, and some games are very similar. For example, it is very similar to Humanity Civilization or, more clearly, Pathfinder. It is very similar to Wrath of the Righteous Pathfinder. To the Royal Author. Finding games that * don't * are rare these days. this year I can only think of two: Wildermyth and the newly released Dice Legacy .

Legacy says it calls for dice-building urban survival, which is a bit of a stretch. This is the game. My first tip if you want to try it out is to play your first game on an easy difficulty. Otherwise, you might try to guess the mechanics of the game, because some thieves are burning your entire city. In Dice Legacy you build cities / towns / colonies in a world in a ring. So your map is not very big, but rather long. The aim of the game is to expand your city once around the ring and capture the buildings of the enemy port at the other end.

To do this, you need to use your population, you can only have 12 (or less, temporarily). But your population is made up of dice of different colors. In the beginning they were all crazy farmers. Over time you can build Citizen's Dice, Warrior's Dice, Merchant's Dice and Monk's Dice. You can also make your own construction dice later! All dice have 6 sides. You can only use faces that appear. For example, a farmer has "work", the two sides "harvest", "construction", "battle" and "recon". When the matrix is used, it turns gray. You can roll your dice to turn gray again and give each dice a random result.

The obvious difficulty is that if you need something specific quickly, usually the result of a “fight” against some enemy attackers, you may not get that result on your reels and end up in a panic sometimes. But each time you roll the dice the duration decreases, so you have to go back with the food. Basically, Dice Legacy is similar to a board game for staff training, but with the added stress of randomness and real-time dice.

Personally, I really like Dice Legacy. Negative reviews compare the game to a “time IQ test”. I agree, but I find it more positive. This * is * not a game of chance at all. You need to think really well and quickly to make it work against randomness. The game is quite difficult, even on “standard” difficulty, and once you pass games like this, there are several ways to make it more difficult.

That said, I’m sure I’ll play for more than 10 hours and then delete it. Each game lasts a few hours and is repetitive, so the value of repetition is not so great. The “naughty” aspect is not well developed. You can "upgrade" the dice and get 2 solid dice in the next game; but rolling and rolling the dice is already the final game. If you set the difficulty too high and you lose the game, you may not get the dice for progress, so the next game will not be easier. Different masters don’t add much variety, and different scenarios are designed to be somehow more punishing than to offer a lot of diversity.

So I would definitely not recommend Dice Legacy at all. If you’re willing to pay $ 20 to make a very difficult 10-hour puzzle game, this may be the game for you. If you’re looking for something calmer or prefer actions to thoughts, you may not be your target audience. That’s why Steam’s opinions are “confused”.
