Moving is something that most families don't do very often because it takes a lot of work, planning, and preparation. And since this is something I'll likely be doing in the next year or so, I looked around to see what software would be available to help. And I was positively impressed by Roomschetter - there are plenty of free features for drawing floor plans and arranging furniture. And for other useful features, there are a number of subscription schemes or individual schemes at reasonable prices. In the end I signed up for a subscription and that included a credit for a service where I could submit photos of my floor plans and have them coded into the software with all the right measurements.
Why do I need all this? I plan to move from a one-story apartment to a slightly larger two-story house. The size of the room will be different. And not all furniture suits us, the main example is the built-in kitchen. RoomSketcher makes me visualize a new home in 2D and 3D. I can move the furniture easily and see if the large closet in our current room would fit any room in the new home. I can 3D print plans for all the furniture to show the operators where each item goes. Or I can make a live 3D interactive guide to visualize how the new home will be designed. Everything is really clean and useful.
